Albeda College
The Albeda College is a large comprehensive school for intermediate vocational education and adult education in Rotterdam. Here, approximately 25,000 students follow an education under the supervision of approximately 2,500 employees. The Albeda College offers over 350 educations and qualification possibilities on 50 locations in the area of Healthcare, Welfare, Service Provisioning, Food, Technology and Economics. In addition to vocational education the Albeda College also attends to education in the area of integration and reintegration.
During 2005 The Albeda College started using a variety of webapplications for students and employees. The strategic value of internet has become visible since then by the growing usage of internet, (portal) websites and communities.

Due to the large scale of the decentralized organisation and the diverse target groups the usage of internet technology was project based, experimental and fragmented. In the end of 2004 the Board initiated a project group with the objective to combine existing best practise and state of the art features in a new, centrally managed portal. In this portal the different intranets are becoming a workplace of both students and employees. Student get access to school schedules, excercises and results.
For the 25,000 students and 2,500 employees an e-learning course was developed helping them during their first steps in the portal.
